WHAT THE HECK IS OH FOR FUN ABOUT?
Oh For Fun (ohh fer FAWN) is a variety show coming to you from the middle of North America. It's comedy with a sprinkling of passive-aggressive social commentary. Every episode begins with some "live" chat betwixt the hosts, who then introduce the segments. These may include quaint, heartwarming tales in "Hotdish for the Soul," tongue-in-cheek grievances in "Awfer Pete's Sake," or compelling debates in "You Bet/Heck No." Interspersed with commercials for life-changing but possibly fake products, the goal is to elicit at least one hardy gaffaw.
Most everything about Oh For Fun is inspired by Minnesota, Minnesotans, and Midwest sensibilities - right down to the long goodbye. In fact, Theresa stole the idea for Oh For Fun from the blog/brainchild of a friend group who just really wanted to share all the great things to have come from the Land of 10,000 Lakes. It was called "You're Welcome. Love, MN," and while the original blog is collecting dust on the infinite expanse of internet knick-knack shelves, Oh For Fun keeps it alive with appreciative histories of such MN contributions as Caribou Coffee and the Halloween Capital of the World.
The shower is usually where inspiration hits, right? When you really can't do anything about it. The only worse place is on the road, which is where Theresa was when she decided to co-opt and expand on the genius but dormant You're Welcome. Love, MN idea. Something about that morning commute in the Fall of 2018 had her narrating the most indecipherable voice note to ever need deciphering. Enter John.
Over the next months, the two creators drew upon their decades-long friendship and mutual respect for the art of comedy to get this thing going. John learned how to record and edit, while Theresa played around on Instagram and learned practically nothing. In June of 2019, Oh For Fun was launched!

We are Theresa and John. We're friends and writers and weirdos. We take a lot of things very seriously, like pizza. We are not above toilet humor. We are sick and tired of Minnesota being underappreciated as "fly-over country," so we started the Oh For Fun podcast about it and the greater Midwest, as well as other things irrelevant and irreverent.
